Anonymous John Does attempt to slay the Dragon (Quest)
Back in late September, I mentioned three cases by Dragon Quest Productions in Illinois Northern District Court. It’s time to revisit them. Note, there are other Dragon Quest suits in other jurisdictions, but I am focusing on N.D. Ill. for now.
Dragon Quest Productions, LLC v. Does 1-100, Case No. 1:12-cv-07812
Plaintiff entered motion for discovery on 10/18. The motion was granted on 11/1. It appears Plaintiff now has subscriber’s information, because on 12/7, an anonymous Motion to Quash (MTQ) was entered by a John Doe defendant on behalf of all 100 defendants. The defendant additionally asked the court to sever all defendants. The MTQ was denied by Judge Bucklo on 12/20 in a minute order. One defendant entered a MTQ on 12/24 through counsel, which hasn’t been ruled on yet.
Dragon Quest Productions, LLC v. Does 1-80, Case No. 1:12-cv-07815
Plaintiff entered motion for discovery on 10/18. The motion was granted on 10/30 by Judge Lefkow in a minute entry. An anonymous MTQ was entered by defendant John Does 1-80 on 12/12. The MTQ is anonymous and on behalf of all defendants. Judge Lefkow has yet to rule on it.
